FSR was founded in 1919 in Hălchiu, Brașov County, at the initiative of a Czech investor who recognized the opportunity for drill bit manufacturing in a country undergoing full reconstruction. Seventeen years later, in 1936, a partnership agreement was concluded between Mr. Tersek, the company's founder, and Otto Rhein, a Romanian of German descent. This led to the establishment of a new company, TITAN, which was to be headquartered in Râșnov.

Romanian engineer Georgescu-Topășlău decided to invest in the continuously growing company. In 1939, he acquired the majority stake, renamed the company GETOP, and expanded its product range, complementing it with milling cutters, reamers, and specialized tooling for the aerospace and defense industries.

In 1948, GETOP was taken over and transformed into a state-owned enterprise under the name Fabrica de Scule Râșnov (FSR). At that time, the company possessed 950 square meters of production space. Following several successive development phases between 1950 and 1985, the company reached a production area of over 30,000 square meters.

The company reached its peak in 1988, when the number of FSR employees reached 3,500. Starting in 1989, the workforce steadily declined due to successive restructurings, dropping to just over 600 employees by 2001, the moment of the factory's privatization. Throughout this period, continuous investments were made in technology, with the company regularly acquiring modern CNC machinery to diversify its operations and keep pace with the industry's evolution.
In 2007, Sprinter 2000 SA from Brașov acquired the majority stake in FSR, a factory with 300 employees that successfully maintained its leadership in the domestic cutting tools market, while simultaneously expanding into new business segments: molds, dies, and plastic injection molding.
